Shotef + 60: when an invoice becomes cash

By CFO Brain · Last updated: 16 October 2026

In short

Shotef + 60 means payment is due 60 days after the end of the month in which the invoice was issued. An invoice dated 1 March is due around 30 May, which is week 13 of a 13-week plan. Payroll, VAT, income-tax advances and rent leave the account before then.

What "shotef + 60" means

"Shotef + N" is a payment term common in Israeli business. N days are counted from the end of the month in which the invoice was submitted. So "shotef + 60" means the invoice is due 60 days after the end of that month. A Hebrew accounting site describing Israel's law on payment to suppliers (2017) says the same counting applies to the default term, which it gives as shotef + 45 for private businesses when the contract names no other term. Shotef + 60 is therefore a term the parties agreed, not the default. Confirm the details of your own contracts with an Israeli accountant.

  1. 1 MarchInvoice dated.
  2. 31 MarchEnd of the month. The 60 days start here.
  3. 30 May31 March plus 60 days (30 days to 30 April, 30 more to 30 May). The invoice is due.
  4. Week 1330 May is day 90 counted from 1 March, which is week 13 of a 13-week plan.
The date logic of the text, drawn.

An invoice dated 1 March is the longest wait: about 90 days. An invoice dated 31 March is due on the same 30 May, a wait of about 60 days. Under this term, every invoice issued in the same month falls due on the same day.

What leaves the account before then

Over those roughly 13 weeks a business usually pays payroll for each month, VAT on its filing cycle, income-tax advances (mikdamot), rent, suppliers and software. The invoice you are waiting for does not help with any of them. This is not tax advice: confirm your VAT and advance schedule with your accountant.

How to model it

  1. Enter the receipt in the week it lands (week 13 in the example), not in the week you invoiced.
  2. Enter payroll, VAT, advances and rent in the weeks they leave.
  3. Read the lowest week. If it falls before the invoices are paid, that is the week to plan for.
  4. Use the "top client pays a month late" decision to see what a one-month slip does. Simulator demo, example numbers: cash dips to 49,300 in week 4 and spends 3 weeks under the 56,000 floor.

To place a particular invoice, the free When will I actually get paid? calculator works out shotef + 30, + 60 and + 90 dates, adds the days the customer is usually late and names the forecast week the money lands in.

A Friday note for Israeli readers

Friday is part of the weekend in Israel. Use the last day of your work week: "15 minutes on the last day of your work week", or every Thursday. The routine is the same.
